The very first match of 2018 was there! We had to face Intermezzo DR2, against whom we've had our very first of the season (2-2 back then). An extra training on the monday prior to the game helped us getting our spirits up for the match. We were so ready! The risotto at Lola's place also really helped :)
Because of the storm on thursday, Melissa was stuck in Amsterdam and unfortunately couldn't make it to the game. But thankfully, Lotte (DR2) could help us out.
The game started and we quickly took the lead. Veerle put a lot of pressure on our opponents with her service, and after a few moments, we reached the 25 points. The first set of 2018 was ours! (25-14).
The second set was something different. Because of some tactic changes in players that we did not really understand at first, we got a little (only a little, I swear) confused. Intermezzo DR2 took advantage of that and finished the set with 15-25.
Eager to fight for our points, we entered the court for the third set. Intermezzo DR2 quickly gained points and left us behind. But we would not go down without a fight! Communcation got better, our attacks got fiercer and our services were too difficult for them to handle. To prove our worth, we ended the set with 25-23.
The final set was there: would we settle for a draw or keep fighting for victory? Well, we did the latter. After a lot of nice ralleys, we ended the game by taking the fourth set with a 25-19 win!

Looking back, it was a nice match in which our teamwork was great. We have improved so much in the last months and we will only become better!
We would like to thank Ģirts Zīle for being our coach! Your training on monday, the tactical time-outs and observations during the game really helped us to win!
And then... who was the first man of the match in 2018? We all decided it is our captain Eline van den Brink! You played great girl, keep up the good work! <3
